An electric car is never a “Zero-Polluter”. It produces similar amount of pollution and has only small percentage of less pollution at smaller cars but it produces more pollution at bigger limousine cars like Teslar.
….And imagine: Teslar builds a new factory in Germany and it receive more one Billion Euro from the German government for making electric cars, where the big ones produce more pollution than others……I call it corruption and false information to the people electing the government…..
A car has a certain weight and the acceleration requires a certain power. This requirement of energy is almost the same for electric car as well as for a combustion car (gasoline, Diesel, etc). So far, everyone knows, that this energy comes from the gasoline. The faster I accelerate the more gas consumption I have.
At an electric car it is similar. The more heave a car is, or so faster I accelerate, the more power from electric distribution I require. Means: same amount of energy I need approximately. The two different engines have an different rating of efficiency and there a small difference in amount of energy required. But overall, the principle is the same. We need a lot of energy for the performance we execute with any kind of vehicle.
And from where comes the power and how to keep power in a “tank” when driving? The power comes from the power station. The power station can be an atomic or gas/oil burning station. The amount of energy for your car is coming from burning material and causing pollution.
And how to keep the energy in my “tank”? The electric energy is stored in a battery. The battery is similar to a battery which you know at your gasoline car, but it is much more efficient and compact. This battery is high poison and is lasting only a few years depending on brand and size and usage. Then this battery must be replaced and the old poison battery must be recycled. Means a battery produces pollution when manufactured and it produces again pollution when it is recycled.
Summary: an electric care produces similar kind and amount of pollution as an combustion car. Smaller cars, lighter cars, produce less, bigger cars produce more. In average you can say that smaller electric cars produce 25-33% less pollution where as a bigger car (Teslar and others) process even more pollution than an gasoline car.
